Advanced Adventure Diver
You've taken your open water scuba diver course and now you're ready to expand your knowledge but you would like to see what is out there first. The SDI Advanced Adventure Diver course will give you an overview of five (5) selected SDI specialties. Two of the specialties are SDI Deep Diver and Navigations Diver, which are the foundation of continuing diver education. The remaining specialties may include:
- Advanced Buoyancy Control
- Altitude, Boat
- Computer Nitrox
- Drift
This course is intended to introduce you to each of the five (5) specialties and not complete comprehension of the chosen specialty. One (1) dive from each of the chosen specialties may apply towards a complete specialty certification.
Prerequisites
- Open Water diver training certification
- Minimum age of 18
- Dive medical if not undertaken in the last 12 months
- Basic Scuba Equipment
- Gear specific to chosen specialities (eg torch)
- Gear can be supplied at a reduced hire rates in conjunction with your course.
Cost:
$299 (hire gear not included in price)NB Boat dives incur an additional fee. Add $80 for double boat dive (Usually $100). Excludes Ex-HMAS Adelaide dives.
Advanced Diver Development Program
The SDI Advanced Diver Development Program was created to make truly “Advanced Divers.” Under the old way of training a student could take an Advanced Course right after an Open Water course and only have a total of nine (9) dives all under the direct training of an instructor. The SDI – Advanced Diver Development program requires a new OW student to take four (4) SDI specialties or equivalent, along with having a total of twenty (25) logged dives. SDI feels a diver will truly be “Advanced” after this is accomplished.
To graduate you must complete four (4) specialty courses from the list below:
- Wreck diver
- Deep diver
- Search and recovery
- Boat diver
- Advanced buoyancy control
- Drift diver
- Equipment specialist
- Night Limited Visibility
- Shore/Beach Dive
- Underwater Navigation

- Open Water diver training certification

Rescue Diver
The SDI Rescue Diver Course is designed to develop your knowledge and necessary skills to effectively perform diver rescues and assist, and administer necessary first aid. You will learn skills such as how to perform self rescues, buddy rescues, recognize and calm potential panic divers, administer proper first aid to divers that have experienced dive related injuries, conduct effective search patterns and manage accident scenes. After the SDI Rescue Diver Course you can start in the professional ranks and sign up for the SDI Divemaster Course.
To graduate from this course dives must show they can:
- Conduct rescue of divers in distress
- Administer necessary first aid

- Proof of Advanced Diver certification or Open Water Certification with forty (40) logged Open Water dives.
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications
- Dive Medical, if not obtained in the last 12 months.
